St Patrick’s Day is always an important moment in the calendar for Capital Sky. With Irish roots at the heart of the business, specifically County Mayo, the day itself and all of its build up provides an opportunity to celebrate our heritage, and our community.

This year, the celebrations began early as the Capital Sky team took part in the Luton St Patricks Festival Parade, hosted by the Luton Irish Forum. On Saturday 14th March, our branded vehicles joined the parade through Luton town centre, with members of the team travelling alongside them as part of a vibrant and well-supported event that brought together families, businesses and organisations from across the local Irish community.

We shared the day with a Gaelic Football team very close to us through several members of our team, the Claddagh Gaels LGFC, and it was brilliant to have their whole team with us too.

This was also an opportunity to show our support publicly to an incredibly important charity, the Little Blue Heroes Foundation. Little Blue Heroes Foundation was one of the charities featured on our lorry during the London St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Established in 2017, the foundation supports families of children with serious illnesses across Ireland while empowering children by granting them the honour of becoming Honorary Gardaí.

To support this fantastic cause, we are partnering with Donegal company The Formwork Factory and Brendan “Tiny” Vaughan, working alongside Mayo and Donegal Gardaí. As part of the fundraising effort, we have purchased a classic car which will be specially wrapped half Mayo and half Donegal. The car will travel across both counties throughout the year, appearing at a range of large events to help raise awareness and funds for Little Blue Heroes.

On Sunday we hit London with the wagons to join in the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations there, and as noted by Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan in his post on X, thousands of Londoners and visitors came together to celebrate the best of Irish Culture in the Capital’. He very kindly posted pictures of our office manager and the Capital Sky wagons too.

Our companys story is closely tied to the Irish community that has long contributed to Britains construction and civil engineering sectors. Generations of skilled professionals travelled from Ireland to help build infrastructure, develop cities and strengthen industries across the UK. That legacy remains an important part of our identity today.

Our guiding line Born in Ireland, Built in Britain” reflects that history and the journey of a company that continues to grow while maintaining strong connections to its roots.

Throughout the St Patricks celebration period, Capital Sky will also regularly appear in The Irish Post, recognising the importance of celebrating and staying connected with the Irish community across the UK. We are members of and support ICAP, a charity offering counselling and psychotherapy for the Irish community in Britain, and attended their ultra-inspirational International Women’s Day lunch last week too.

Events such as that, and the Luton and London St Patricks Festivals, the charity organistations we work hard to support and more, are a reminder of the strength that comes from our community and a shared history. They also reflect the inclusive environment we continue to build at Capital Sky, one that welcomes people from all backgrounds who want to contribute to a hardworking and ambitious team.

To everyone celebrating across Luton, Ireland and the wider Irish community in Britain, we wish you a very happy St. Patricks Day.
