Responsibilities:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Tipper Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction related works and demonstrate exceptional driving skills across various vehicle types. This role is crucial for ensuring timely and safe transportation of construction materials, providing excellent service to our clients, and maintaining the integrity of our fleet. Any additional training CPCS/NPORS or HGV Class 1 is advantageous but not a requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate Tipper HGV safely and responsibly.
  • Perform shuttle driving and route driving to deliver goods to designated locations efficiently.
  • Ensure vehicle is loaded correctly and securely.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical soundness and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and delivery schedules as required by company policy.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating commercial vehicles in various conditions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of heavy haul operations and paratransit services when applicable.

Requirements:

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for vehicle operation.
  • Proven experience as a HGV Tipper driver is essential.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is preferable.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic maintenance on vehicles as needed.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with team members and clients.

Apprenticeships

Developing future talent through hands-on experience across the construction industry.

At Capital Sky, apprentices are given the opportunity to build their careers through structured learning, practical experience and exposure to the people and disciplines that make our projects happen.

Our Future Builders Programme brings this approach together, giving apprentices a thorough, hands-on introduction to the business and the construction industry. Six apprentices have taken part in the programme, gaining experience across company operations, project management, groundworks and drainage, plant and machinery, carpentry, steelwork, concrete and engineering, alongside health and safety, commercial and document control. The programme also culminates in the CSS Boardroom Exams, giving participants the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned.

This combination of formal qualifications and practical experience helps our apprentices understand the wider construction process and where their own skills can develop within it. We support our people throughout their training and encourage them to take the next steps in their careers as they gain knowledge, confidence and responsibility.
