Recently in Dublin, I found myself in a room alive with anticipation. The Women in Construction Awards 2025 had drawn together some of the most inspiring women in our industry, and as I looked around I felt a surge of pride. Not only pride in being there, but in what the awards represented. This wasn’t just another awards ceremony for us at Capital Sky, it was a celebration of strength, leadership, and about ensuring women are at the future of the construction industry.

For Capital Sky, this night meant something deeply personal. Ireland is where our roots are, and to return here as a finalist for Best Operations Leadership felt like a bit of a homecoming. It was a chance to honour one of the core the values we live by every day: that leadership knows no gender, that opportunity should be equal, and that when women are empowered, the entire industry moves forward.

At the centre of it all was our Operations Director, Tracey Heneghan. Watching her in that room, I couldn’t help but think of the countless moments behind the scenes that had brought us here, from the late-night calls when projects needed guidance, the way she steadies her team when challenges arise, the quiet encouragement she offers that gives others the courage to step up. Tracey doesn’t just lead operations; she leads people. She makes others believe in themselves, and in doing so, raises the bar for all of us.

When her name was read out as a finalist, I felt goosebumps. To see her recognised on that stage, among 120 submissions and judged by 13 industry experts, was powerful. And when the award ultimately went to another deserving nominee, Tracey did what she always does: she smiled genuinely, she applauded wholeheartedly, and she celebrated someone else’s success as if it were her own. That moment, more than any trophy, showed me what true leadership looks like.

The evening was a reminder of why empowering women in the workplace is not just important to Capital Sky, it’s absolutely essential to who we are. Every success story, every little ounce of recognition like this, reaffirms our commitment to making sure women have not only a place at the table, but a platform to lead it from.

As Head of Marketing, I often talk about our values. But that night in Dublin, I didn’t have to. I saw them lived out in Tracey, in our team, and in the stories of so many other remarkable women around us. Representation matters, and for the next generation of women looking at this industry, wondering if they belong here, we want them to know something – they absolutely do!

We may not have carried home the trophy, but we carried home something even more important, a renewed determination to keep pushing forward, to keep opening doors, and to keep proving that women belong at the head table.

This was a win in every way that matters. And for Capital Sky, this is only the beginning.
