Helping local people discover opportunities in construction is an important part of how we invest in the communities where we work. On Thursday 1 October, Capital Sky returned to the Community Job Fair at Kenilworth Road Stadium, supporting an event dedicated to connecting local residents with employers and career opportunities.
Organised by the Community Trust in partnership with Luton Borough Council and the Department for Work and Pensions, the fair brought businesses and the community together to explore routes into employment.
Following our involvement in the previous event, we were pleased to return and share an insight into Capital Sky, careers in construction and our Future Builders programme.
We believe local people should have the opportunity to play a part in shaping the towns and cities they call home. Supporting that ambition starts with making career pathways easier to understand and helping people recognise where their interests and abilities could take them.
Our Future Builders programme gives apprentices practical experience across different areas of Capital Sky. From groundworks and engineering to project management, health and safety and commercial disciplines, participants discover how different teams contribute to a construction project. That experience helps them understand the industry and explore where they would like to develop their skills.
For us, developing local talent is an investment in the long-term future of our communities. Giving people opportunities to learn, gain experience and build confidence can help them take their next steps towards a rewarding career, while strengthening the skills available locally.
Events like the Community Job Fair create a valuable space for those first conversations. Whether someone is leaving education, returning to employment or considering a new direction, meeting an employer can help make the next step feel more achievable.
Thank you to the Community Trust, Luton Borough Council and the Department for Work and Pensions for bringing the event together, and to everyone who attended.
We look forward to continuing our work with community partners and helping more local people explore their future in construction.
