Capital Sky is proud to celebrate a landmark achievement for Claddagh Gaels Ladies Gaelic Football Club, who were crowned the inaugural John Gormley Cup winners on Saturday.
The relationship between Claddagh Gaels and Capital Sky runs deep. Capital Sky CEO Martin Maloney has supported and sponsored the club since its formation, and when Capital Sky was established, the company followed suit, continuing that support.
Today, Martin serves as President of Claddagh Gaels, while Capital Sky Office Manager Ailish Gaughan is Chairperson and a senior player, with several other members of the Capital Sky team also involved with the club both on and off the pitch.
A key part of Claddagh Gaels’ work is its investment in the next generation, something Capital Sky is proud to support. The club provides opportunities for young players to develop their skills, build confidence, and become part of the wider community. That commitment was evident on Saturday, with 35% of the Claddagh Gaels team aged under 18- a fantastic reflection of the pathway the club is creating for young players.
That focus on youth development closely reflects Capital Sky’s own values. Through initiatives such as the company’s Future Builders programme, Capital Sky invests in young people by providing opportunities to gain experience, develop skills and learn about careers within the construction industry.
Saturday’s victory was about more than lifting a trophy. It was a celebration of a club that has grown into a strong community in Luton, bringing together players, families, coaches and volunteers across generations. The inaugural John Gormley Cup was particularly significant for Claddagh Gaels, honoring a hugely respected member of the club’s history and providing a fitting occasion to celebrate the club’s past while looking towards its future.
